Job Summary

Interacts with various stakeholders, including subject matter experts, executives, operational users, etc. and technical
staff to analyze, elicit, and document requirements associated with defined system scope and objectives for technical
solutions. Highest levels partner with previous audiences to establish project vision and drive scope, including
determination of appropriate technology solutions. 

 

Key Activities

Develops and analyzes functional and non-functional requirements for technology solutions with stakeholders according
to Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and internal standards to ensure business needs are well understood, clearly
defined, and properly aligned with overall project scope.
May work within an Iterative/Agile development environment as an active member of a project team with frequent
interaction between project stakeholders.
Elicit requirements by interviewing stakeholders, reviewing existing business documentation, and decomposing and
outlining existing processes and technologies through data models and diagrams.
Analyzes proposed enhancements to technology solutions and provides written recommendation on feasibility of
incorporating or enhancing technology solutions based on impacts to other stakeholders and technology solutions.
Identifies, reconciles, and resolves conflicting perspectives of various stakeholders and impacts to technology solutions.
Drives the interpretation of business objectives and system scope from the stakeholders to the developers; provides
input on scope management and resolves issues related to the impact of changes to scope.
Creates and maintains artifacts related to user stories, use cases, functionality issues, application glossaries, and data
dictionaries and maps. Creates wireframes and prototypes for user interfaces, requirements surveys, system and process
flows. Obtain final endorsement from stakeholders.
Communicate with developers and stakeholders at various levels of the organization. Respond to questions from
developers regarding requirements, functionality, and data to clarify vision of technology solutions.
Facilitates and/or leads the development of requirements to include planning and determining elicitation approach.
Identifies changes to scope and resulting impacts to requirements, other technology solutions, and stakeholders. Initiate
actions in response to changes.
Identify gaps or underlying issues through analysis of requirements to ensure identification of risks.
Discusses potential resolutions with senior staff and provides options to stakeholders.
Develops presentation materials and conducts presentations for management or subject-matter-experts related to
functionality.
Reviews and provides feedback to peers regarding requirements and artifacts.
Stays abreast of latest trends related to information technology and business analysis.
May develop or contribute to the development of user guides.

Qualifications

 

Associate’s degree specializing in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Three to five years of business analysis experience with elicitation, defining scope, creating documentation, andcollaborating with technical staff. Five to seven years preferred.
Proficient computer skills in programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, Internet, and e-mail programs.
Strong analytical ability.
Ability to effectively collaborate in a team environment.
Broadened nature of interaction to consult and make sound recommendations.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain solid working relationships and offer strong customer service.
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, which include an emphasis on meeting facilitation.
Completion of business analysis training courses and business analysis professional certification preferred.
