Brief Description of Duties, Including Planned Special Projects: Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of many electric power energy market systems, specifically the PCI software suite of software. Maintain close customer contact and provide liaison efforts for the problem resolution process for these systems. Maintain backlog of issues and monitor vendor progress on fixes. Implement fixes and assist with development for any and all plans related to changes with the software and with changes to market protocol and designs. Implement and monitor a data warehouse and related BI tools. Knowledge of hardware/software implementation practices and the SDLC is necessary. Must have excellent research and problem solving skills and be able to prepare reports and documentation related to the software operation. Must have strong customer interfacing and communications skills.

-assessing feasibility,
-designing screens and layouts,
-developing implementation plans,
-conducting vendor searches,

Provides day-to-day production support to end-users.
Follows policies and procedures to ensure corporate data security and change control.
Trains end users in use of new technology applications and enhancements.
Trains IT technicians about how the business function works.
Identifies and recommends/proposes new projects to increase efficiency and productivity, and improve functionality, reliability and quality of systems supported.
Desired Experience: Background in IT software management and development, specifically electric power industry energy markets, and more specifically the PCI suite of products is desirable. Experience with deal entry, tagging, oasis, deal capture, hedging (financial instruments), weather and load forecasting is also desirable. Experience with installing a data warehouse and various vendor BI tools, specifically Oracle OBIEE is a plus. Requires advanced degree or approved certification and 2 years BA experience, or BS in Information Technology and 6 years BA experience, or BS in Information Technology and 8 years relevant experience in 2 KCPL functional areas, or 10 years of BA experience or 12 years of relevant experience in 2 KCPL functional areas. Software experience should include SQL, Java, Java beans, Oracle and Windows Server 2003/2008. Must be able to handle multiple tasks at simultaneously and be able to keep focus with the very dynamic issues that arise with energy markets. Understanding energy and commodity trading will be a benefit. Ability to research, report and implement fixes and new enhancements to the systems described above. Ability to document software implementations and functional specifications is a requirement. Also, be able to write concise and detailed reports that refer to issue resolution for these systems.
