The manufacturing engineer will provide support for our bottleneck/OEE projects to drive significant uptime improvements. Principle accountabilities include: • Identifies and implements cost reduction opportunities such as improved material utilization, increased machine/process efficiency, reduced cost of poor quality, reduction in machine downtime etc. • Work closely with manufacturing personnel to solve critical process issues, develop, implement and document process improvements under minimal supervision. • Provide practical solutions to routine technical problems utilizing manufacturing engineering techniques and transform these solutions into work instructions. • Evaluate manufacturing processes and machines to standardize parts and tools. Review part and tool drawings for necessary tolerances, surface finishes, dimensions, material selections and initiate Engineering Change Orders when justified. • Create Bill of Materials (BOM’s) for manufacturing equipment and identifies critical usage parts. • Communicate and coordinate efforts between engineering resources, machine shop, plant facilities, vendors, and production areas. • Investigates and troubleshoots production difficulties and ensures corrective and preventative measures are implemented. • Must be a self starter and results oriented. ? EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION Required: • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing • Four or more years of manufacturing engineering experience • Demonstrated and proven application of technical standards, principles, theories, and techniques from schooling and work experience • Hands on experience with Six Sigma tools and techniques and lean manufacturing concepts including statistical/DOE experience. • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications • Strong mechanical aptitude Desired: • Green Belt or Black Belt certification • Cad experience (Solidworks) • Small Caliber ammunition manufacturing experience • Installation and maintenance of automated systems
