Our Overland Park, KS based client is currently looking to add a Network Engineer for their growing Corporate Information Security team.
JOB SUMMARY: The Network Engineer/Administrator is responsible for providing infrastructure support for all systems related to processing stored-value gift cards and corporate networks. This position is responsible for after-hours support of those same systems when necessary. This position will be responsible for maintaining all pieces of infrastructure equipment at client.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
This work requires specialized knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through attaining a four year college degree in a technology-related field. Minimum Qualification: Any combination equivalent to four years of college-level course work in Network Engineering, Network Administration, System Administration or Computer Science or related fields and three years of relevant work experience in a Network Engineer or System Administrator role. This position also requires at least 3 years experience supporting Microsoft Windows Servers (version 2003 or higher) and familiarity with Cisco IOS. Proficiency in common network protocols such as TCP/IP and STP as well as experience managing enterprise firewalls and other network and security appliances is highly desired.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide infrastructure support for all of client’s systems and networks.
· Perform upgrades and configuration of infrastructure equipment including installing patches and upgrades to hardware, applications and/or Operating Systems the corporate technologies depend upon.
· Maintain Linux load-balancer configuration used for routing Production/QA web-traffic.
· Perform manual sanity-check testing of all systems.
· Understand impact of SAS70 and PCI requirements and how it relates to this position.
· Uphold the critical ideals that come with the responsibility of Production environment access.
· Assistance in the design, development, documentation and operation of robust network topology.
· Participation in code review sessions.
· Miscellaneous minor tasks assigned by manager.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Knowledge
o Microsoft Windows, TCP/IP, DNS, NetBIOS, spanning tree protocol, WSUS
o Basic understanding of general network security processes
o Experience performing installation and troubleshooting software, hardware and Operating System issues
o Desired knowledge in using the following applications: Nagios, Cacti, ASDM
· Skills and Abilities
o Meet demanding schedules and timelines
o Communicate and work effectively with others
o Work independently with minimal supervision.
o Perform detail-oriented work accurately with frequent interruptions.
